General Manager / Beer Guide
Trained as an artist and then English teacher, Sarah creates our tours, degustations, and is in charge of our business operations. A native Ohioan, Sarah’s curiosity in beer was sparked when she lived in Žižkov, a beer filled Prague neighborhood. As lead guide, she firmly believes that great beer is meant for everyone. Sarah loves to try new beers, and says ‘I’ll try any beer once, but the good stuff, I’m down for some serious mugs’. Having said that, she admires the complexity of beers like Orval and the tartness of sours, but happily returns to a properly poured mug of Pilsner Urquell.
Web & Marketing Specialist
The founder of Prague’s Pub & Beer Guide, Daniel is originally from Gävle, Sweden. His Czech roots are perhaps the explanation for his unquenchable thirst for light Czech lagers, which he no doubt inherited from his father. Daniel is our handy web-developer and online marketer. He’s always thinking of how to make our site easier to use, adding new features, and updating our design, most definitely with a mug of microbrew lager in his hand. For Daniel’s favorite pub, ambiance is key. Daniel appreciates pubs with an upbeat vibe, and the best are ones that combine the cavernous Czech cellar bar with an American party-like atmosphere.
Originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, Cally is an avid home-brewer. She’s lived on both sides of the Atlantic and is now happy to call Prague home. What she’s drinking depends on the seasons. When asked what’s her favorite beer, she replies ‘It’s a really tough question, and in a lot of ways the answer is always changing. I wouldn’t go for a crisp lager midwinter, and if I find something I really like I’ll happily drink little else for weeks. That said, not much beats a properly well pulled pint of Belhaven Best, it might not be the most exciting craft brew, but it’s a beer for any occasion and it tastes like home.’
Having joined our team after traveling to over 100 different countries and living on 3 different continents, Kristin is originally from Ohio, USA. Now Kristin is studying at Charles University and is taking advantage of all the joys of student life- like great, affordable beer. ‘I love a good IPA and have developed quite a taste for dark lagers’, she says, when asked about her favorite beer. As for the pubs she enjoys, ‘My favorite bars are usually quirky, quiet and full of interesting people’. Besides her love of beer, she’s interested in history and of course travel. Her life goal is to try a beer in every country of the world. ‘I’ve managed to have a beer in 115 countries so far, only a few more to go!’
From Česká Třebová, Lukas is currently studying at the Czech Technical University and spends his free time visiting breweries and sampling the local staples, microbrews. If Lukas would have to choose a beer to fit all occasions, he’d go for his country’s golden jewel, Pilsner Urquell. But, Lukas is also an adventurous young man, and appreciates the unfiltered lagers from Prague microbreweries like Bašta and Vinohradský, and other beer styles such as Strahov’s famous IPA. For his favorite pub, he says it has to have good clean taps, and an enjoyable atmosphere. But, as a true Czech, quenching thirst fast is key. ‘We Czechs want to get our beer freshly tapped and we want to get it fast so the service is probably the most important aspect of all!’
From time to time we're looking for more beer experts to join our team. If you'd be interested please send us your c.v.
